 Ohio Tax Credit Scholarships

The Chesterton Academy of St. Joseph Scholarship Fund (CASJSF) has been certified by the State of Ohio as a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). This is great news because gifts to the CASJSF can be directed to Chesterton Academy Students! Click here to read about the Scholarship Donation Credit on the Ohio Department of Taxation website.

Turn your taxes into tuition to benefit CASJ. Ohio taxpayers who donate to an SGO may be able to claim a dollar-for-dollar non-refundable tax credit on their state income tax return for up to $750 per donor (up to $1,500 if married and filing jointly).

You will receive a thank you letter from the CASJSF for your records and to be used to receive your Ohio tax credit on your Ohio income taxes.

PLEASE NOTE: According to a representative from the Ohio Department of Taxation, if you file a married joint return, each taxpayer will need to make their own $750 contribution to claim the maximum of $1,500. Separate acknowledgement letters will be provided for documentation of your gifts.

Because this provision is a tax credit and a re-direction of your taxes, we kindly ask that your gift to the CASJSF be in addition to your current support of Chesterton Academy.

My spouse and I would like to make a $1,500 contribution to the SGO. Can we write one check or make one contribution online and receive the $1,500 credit?

Under the direction of the State of Ohio, married taxpayers must make TWO SEPARATE $750 donations, one in each person’s name, in order to be eligible for the full $1,500 tax credit. A single donation made for $1,500 will be limited by the State of Ohio to a $750 tax credit.

How do I receive the tax credit from the State of Ohio?

Taxpayers can claim this credit on their State of Ohio income tax returns.
